New Weight Management Program to start at SLAC - STAP funds eligible

The group will meet weekly for 11 weeks. Meetings held from 12-1:15pm in a SLAC location to be determined. Call to be added to the list for the next group.

Participants meet in small groups (10-15 people) with a trained facilitator and set short-term behavioral goals that they work on between sessions. They discuss their progress, obstacles, and strategies with one another. The facilitator also leads a discussion on a topic related either to behavioral science (e.g., staying motivated, build a support network), or on a topic more directly related to weight loss (e.g., nutrition and physical activity). The program does not provide participants with a diet or exercise plan. Rather, our philosophy is that participants come up with their own goals, with input from the facilitator and other group members.

This group is for individuals who:
Can commit to attending all (or almost all) of the 11 sessions
Recognize that sustainable weight loss is achieved through gradual lifestyle changes rather than going on a "diet" or making other drastic lifestyle changes
Do well in a group setting
If this program sounds like something you're interested in, please call Jayna Rogers at (650) 724-7347 for further information. Once we have enough interested people a start-date will be determined.
