EventsMicrosoft Presents Office 2007
Date: June 22, 2006
Time: 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm Microsoft Office 2007 won't be released until the end of the year, but the changes will be so considerable that the company is already offering tutorials on how to use the new software. To help SLAC employees make the transition, Microsoft will come to Panofsky Auditorium next week to demonstrate their new product.
"Both the user interface and what goes on behind the scenes will change significantly," said Brian Scott of the SLAC Windows Infrastructure Group. "Even Microsoft Word will be noticeably different, with new toolbars and layout." On Thursday, June 22, between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m., Microsoft representatives will be in Panofsky Auditorium to demonstrate its 2007 Office client, which covers applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Then, from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., they will exhibit the Microsoft 2007 Office server, which includes collaborative software, content management, wikis and blogs. SLAC employees and users will have access to beta installations of both the Office 2007 client and server through demo servers. If you're unable to attend the presentations, please contact Brian Scott for access to these servers. "We're trying to give people as much advance notice as possible as to how their software will be changing," said Aaron Bator of the Windows Infrastructure Group. "SLAC employees currently using Microsoft products should see their software switch over sometime next year."
