Posted: 10/08/2009

New Information Resources for DOE Former Worker Medical Screening Program and Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program

The Department of Energy Office of Health, Safety and Security has developed pamphlets for outreach and awareness of benefits and services for former and current DOE Federal employees, contractors and subcontractors.

The Former Worker Medical Screening program was established in 1994 to assist workers with determining whether they had health issues related to their work at a DOE facility. This program offers free medical screening to workers for potential adverse health effects related to occupational exposures such as beryllium, asbestos, silica, welding fumes, lead, cadmium, chromium and solvents.

The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program provides compensation to employees of DOE, its predecessor Agencies, and its contractors and subcontractors who develop an occupational-related illness.
