"From Jaynes-Cummings to Rouse-Zimm: Interdisciplinary Quantum Optics"

The modern field of quantum optics has its roots in fundamental physics but contributes powerful experimental and theoretical methodology to applications in interdisciplinary science and engineering. In this talk I will describe two ongoing projects in our group that apply quantum-optical approaches to contemporary problems in mesoscopic physics and in single-molecule biophysics.
