SLAC to Host Web Engineering Conference

(Logo - ICWE)SLAC will host the International Conference on Web Engineering (ICWE2006) this summer, bringing together practitioners, researchers, and those that want to learn more about web engineering.

"Web-based services have grown so complex that ad-hoc methods no longer work," said SLAC's Bebo White, local organization chair of the conference. "The web now requires a systematic engineering approach, and that is what the conference hopes to promote."

ICWE2006 will take place July 10-14, and will feature keynote talks by Brewster Kahle, Digital Librarian and Director and Co-founder of the Internet Archive, Bernardo Huberman, Senior HP Fellow and Director of the Information Dynamics Lab at Hewlett Packard Laboratories, and David Axmark, Co-Founder of MySQL. A number of workshops will precede the main program:
- 2nd International Workshop on Model-Driven Web Engineering (MDWE 06)
- 1st International Workshop on Adaptation and Evolution in Web Systems Engineering (AEWSE 06)
- 1st International Workshop on Web Services Modeling and Implementation using sound Web Engineering Practices (SMIWEP 06)
- 1st International Workshop on Methods, Architectures & Technologies for e-Service Engineering (MATeS 06)

The conference will also offer tutorials on microformats for open data and on web cost estimation, productivity assessment and benchmarking.

ICWE2006 is being jointly organized by SLAC, the University of San Francisco, and the University of California at Santa Cruz.
