Giving Campaign Season Begins

The holiday season is coming and SLAC is once again participating in the Second Harvest Food Drive. The Second Harvest Food Bank is the primary source of donated, surplus and purchased food for non-profit agencies in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. In fiscal year 2010 (July 2009–June 2010), they distributed more than 45.5 million pounds of nutritious food to low-income people in need in every zip code of our service area from Daly City to Gilroy, and from the ocean to the bay.

The Virtual Food Drive will be available again this year to SLAC users and staff. Just visit https://donate.shfb.org/vfd/ to participate. If you choose to donate this way, be sure to put our special ID #47748 on your check. Donation envelopes will also be available through Ramona Miahnahri in Building 41, office 240C if you would like to mail in a check.

Here are this year’s barrel locations for donations of non-perishable foods:

Building 41, 2nd floor front & back door
Building 42, breezeway
Building 50, 1st floor
Building 51, 2nd floor lobby
Building 81, lobby
Building 137, SSRL 2nd & 3rd floor lobby

The barrels will be available for donations through end-of-business, Wednesday, December 15.
