SLAC Blood Drive Coming January 19

Give a Pint, Get a Pint

(Logo)SLAC will host a blood drive in the Panofsky Auditorium Lobby from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. next Wednesday, January 19. This drive is open to all members of the SLAC community and the general public.

In addition to the satisfaction of helping patients and local hospitals, each donor will receive a coupon for a free pint of Baskin-Robins ice cream.

To donate blood, you must:

  • Be at least 17 years of age.
  • Weigh at least 110 pounds.
  • Be free of cold and flu symptoms (allergies okay; as are most medications).
  • Eat before donating & drink plenty of fluids.
  • Bring photo identification.

Appointments will be given priority, but walk-ins are always welcome! To schedule an appointment online, log onto the Stanford Blood Center site and click "Schedule an Appointment" at the top right side of the page. Search for sponsor code "0136," click on the date of the drive, then follow the prompts to schedule an appointment.

See SLAC's blood drive Web page for more information. Please contact Lauren Barbieri (x2354) with any questions.

Expense Reimbursement by Direct Deposit Is Coming

SLAC staff can now save time spent picking up and depositing expense reimbursement checks. Payment using direct deposit will be available starting next Tuesday, January 18, for employee reimbursements of travel and other approved expenses. This service is available to lab employees who are signed up for direct deposit with the SLAC Payroll Department. Details:

  • To request reimbursement by direct deposit, simply verify that this option is indicated on your travel expense report or special payment form. This will be the default option for special payment forms, and the first choice on travel expense reports.
  • Payment will be deposited to your primary bank account, as filed with the Payroll Department, within one to two business days of processing by Accounts Payable staff.
  • You will receive an e-mail indicating that the reimbursement has been made.

Please note that contractors, visitors and Stanford payrolled employees are not eligible for this service.

Any employees who currently do not have direct deposit set up for their paychecks and reimbursements are encouraged to sign up, using the online direct deposit form.
