New Interactive Map of the LCLSAs Linac Coherent Light Source hardware installation gathers steam within the project's newly completed buildings, visitors on the Web can explore the facility through a new interactive LCLS map. Curious about the different sections and functions of the LCLS? Just click on any section of the map for a pop-up description and photo of that area. To create the map, InfoMedia Solutions and the Communications Office reconfigured the LCLS construction dashboard, which had tracked progress on civil construction through its completion. The new map is accessible from the left navigation bar of the LCLS home page. In addition, SLAC Today will link to the map each week with the LCLS hardware update, which will track progress on installation of the LCLS beamline and instrumentation. |

The SASS CzarsNoticeably young faces fill the Kavli third floor conference room by 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, and a few dozen students settle in with brown bag lunches. Nicole Ackerman and Keith Betchol set out cookies and fruit, make a few short announcements, then introduce the student speaker. Ackerman and Betchol are the SASS czars—SASS as in the SLAC Association of Student Speakers and czars, the moniker chosen by the students for their appointed organizers. This year's czars, both second-year physics students at Stanford University, say they participate in SASS to help build an active community of graduate students at SLAC. |
