Arrows of Time to Show at SLAC

Arrows of Time, a film by award-winning artist Ken McMullen, will show SLAC's own Phil Bucksbaum, Roger Blandford, Maruša Bradač, Michael Peskin, and Neil Calder in their cinematic debuts this evening as part of the San Francisco Film Festival. The film premieres tonight at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Sunday afternoon at the Exploratorium. Ticket information and a critical review are available online.

But if you miss the premiere screenings, don't despair! Arrows of Time will come to SLAC's Kavli Auditorium at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, April 30th. McMullen will introduce the film and field questions afterward.

McMullen filmed the interviews shown in the Arrows of Time on a visit to SLAC last November. Now working on a full-length feature film based on the same subject, he spent this past week again filming at the lab. Come meet McMullen this Monday afternoon!

The Summer Undergraduate Laboratory Internship program (SULI) is seeking a graduate student or postdoc to be a Resident Associate/Advisor (RA) this summer. In exchange for RA duties during the 9-week program, the RA lives for free in the SULI house on Stanford campus.

Approximately two dozen SULI students work with scientists mentors at the lab each summer, doing research on real projects and writing up their findings. Many participants in the program have decided on a career in science and engineering because of their summer experience.

The RA position is a good opportunity for a SLAC user to live close to the lab from June 24th through August 25th. Candidates need to be at least graduating seniors. For more details, contact SULI Program Leader Mike Woods at mwoods@slac.stanford.edu.
